The purpose of the audit was to support Belarusian NPP in achieving high performance indicators for the plant, finding the best ways to solve production problems, and improving the safety and reliability of the nuclear power plant.
At the final meeting, with the participation of a team of experts, the director of WANO-MC Vasily Aksyonov and representatives of Belarusian NPP, headed by the general director of the enterprise Sergey Bobovich, the results of the work were summed up, the strengths of the NPP were noted and the recommendations of the experts were considered.
"Belarusian NPP prepared very well for the peer review. Special thanks for the strengths provided. We have reviewed them and they will be included in the overall report. There was very good interaction with the partners from the plant. The experts tried to pass on to Belarusian NPP their experience, skills, and all the good that is available at the plants where they work. That is why such a positive result was achieved," said Dmitry Zerkal, head of the expert team and representative of WANO-MC at Kursk NPP.
On behalf of Belarusian NPP, First Deputy Director General – Chief Engineer of the NPP Anatoly Bondar thanked the partners for their joint work and expressed confidence that the results of the inspection will enable Belarusian specialists to move further along the path of improving safety, efficiency and achieving high production indicators of Belarusian NPP.
"Belarusian NPP, although a "young" plant, has good experience. Of course, this is due to the people who work here, and we are ready to share this experience with other NPPs. Without a doubt, nuclear energy is "green" and, today, this is the only correct path for the development of global energy. And the work of WANO, aimed at studying and disseminating the best world operating practices among nuclear power plants of the world, will continue to strengthen the position of global nuclear energy," - expressed confidence in his speech Director General of the Belarusian NPP Sergei Bobovich.
“We really liked the plant and it has a good future,” noted Vasily Aksyonov, director of VANO-MC, in his speech.
The head of Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators thanked the experts and partners of Belarusian NPP for their fruitful joint work, and also presented Belarusian representatives of the WANO youth movement, Ekaterina Struy and Yana Mikhailova, with awards "for their commitment to the mission and values of WANO, as well as for enhancing the prestige of the nuclear industry among young people."
In turn, the General Director of the state enterprise "Belarusian NPP" Sergei Bobovich presented Vasily Aksyonov with the badge "For the construction of Belarusian nuclear power plant" as recognition of the merits of WANO in the implementation of the project of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant.
