Residents of Ostrovets gather annually at the eternal flame to honor the memory of those who died in Khatyn and other settlements in Belarus, who shared the fate of the village, the name of which is inscribed in history as a symbol of the atrocities of the Nazis and the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.
Khatyn is the pain and sorrow of the Belarusian people. Today, at a time when neo-fascism is again trying to revive in the vastness of “enlightened” Europe, our sacred duty is to preserve the memory of those terrible events so that they never happen again.
At the end of the rally, the descendants of the victors, grateful for the peaceful skies, laid flowers at the monument to Soviet soldiers and partisans.
