Belarus and Uzbekistan cooperate comprehensively in the nuclear energy sector. Uzbekistan has already begun implementing a national nuclear energy program and is seeking to actively use Belarusian experience.
At the NPP information center, Viktor Karankevich and the Director General of Belarusian NPP, Sergei Bobovich, told Belarusian guests about the specifics of the nuclear power plant project and the technological solutions implemented in it, which made the first Belarusian NPP safe and efficient.
Oleg Zhenov, Deputy Chief Engineer for Personnel Training and Head of the Nuclear Power Plant's Training Center, presented the capabilities of a full-scale control room simulator for practical training and operational practice for operating personnel.
During a working meeting, Alexander Starinsky, Deputy Director General and Head of the Capital Construction Department of Belarusian NPP, briefed representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on the main stages of industrial infrastructure construction and the implementation of Belarusian NPP construction project. During a tour of the NPP's production facilities, Uzbek representatives independently assessed the organization of the technological process for supporting the NPP's construction.
During a visit to Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus Denis Moroz and Director of the Uzatom Agency Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev spoke with journalists.
"Uzbekistan's goal is to study Belarusian experience and, together with Belarusian specialists, strive to implement the highest-quality project for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan, as well as an atomic city that will provide the most comfortable social and economic conditions for the construction workers and future specialists of the nuclear power plant. I believe that after studying Belarusian experience, our work will significantly accelerate," explained Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev.
According to Denis Moroz, Belarus is ready to share its experience and skills set, including infrastructure development, personnel training, and the development of new technologies. A delegation of specialists from Uzbekistan is currently studying the infrastructure for the NPP. The Energy Minister also outlined the prospects for Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.
"Last November, a decision was made to build a third power unit at Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant site, and negotiations are currently underway with the state corporation “Rosatom”. The document is expected to be signed soon," noted Denis Moroz.
The Uzbek guests' visit concluded with a tour of the social infrastructure of Ostrovets, including the multifunctional cultural center, the central district clinical hospital, the Impulse sports and recreation complex, and the housing stock of Belarusian NPP.
Sergei Medzvetskas, Chairman of Ostrovets District Executive Committee, emphasized that without adequate, modern social infrastructure, it will be impossible to attract qualified specialists. Visiting Ostrovets, visitors to Belarus saw firsthand the scale of the work completed to build Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant's city of power engineers and the comfortable living conditions created for all residents.
