Written by Department of information and public relations

On November 21, 2025, members of the Youth Council of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus made a familiarization visit to Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant. The purpose of the visit was to study the current status and development prospects of nuclear energy in the country, as well as to learn about the unique experience of Belarusian NPP.

As part of the busy visit, the young parliamentarians visited the plant's information and training centers. A tour of these facilities enabled the guests to gain a general understanding of the operating principles of a nuclear power plant, the safety and reliability of Belarusian NPP, and modern approaches to training highly qualified personnel for the nuclear industry.

The key event of the visit was a meeting between members of the Youth Council and the Director General of Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, Sergei Bobovich, his deputies, the Chairman of Ostrovets District Council of Deputies, Gennady Bychko, and activists of the enterprise's primary organization, BRYU.

The head of BelNPP briefed young parliamentarians on the current status and prospects of the nuclear power plant in connection with the decision to build a third power unit. He also noted the role of Belarusian NPP in the country's energy system and its importance in ensuring the energy security of the Republic of Belarus.

The discussion also touched on current issues related to the training and professional development of plant personnel. The young parliamentarians learned about the work being done to support the career development of young employees at Belarusian NPP. Of particular interest was information about the company's social and youth policies, aimed at creating comfortable living and working conditions for young professionals, attracting talented young people, and actively engaging them in the development of the plant and the region.

Gennady Bychko, Chairman of Ostrovets District Council of Deputies, spoke to meeting participants about the role of Belarusian NPP in the development of Ostrovets and Ostrovets District, emphasizing the positive changes that have occurred in the region's demographic and social spheres.

As a gift, Sergei Bobovich presented the young parliamentarians with a photo album depicting the construction of BelNPP, as well as the plant's mascots, "Nuklika" and "Atomka."

For their part, the Council members expressed gratitude to the company's management for organizing the visit. Deputy General Director for Quality, Alexander Erin, received a commendation for his recent participation in the Youth Council's "Atomic Saturday" initiative for the "Team of the Future."

At Belarusian NPP site, members of the Youth Council held an extended on-site meeting of the Commission on Economy, Innovative Development, and Entrepreneurship.

The visit of the Youth Council under the Council of the Republic to Belarusian NPP was an important step in fostering a deep understanding among the younger generation of the prospects for the development of domestic nuclear energy, the role of modern technologies in ensuring the country's sustainable development, and the importance of a responsible approach to energy security.
