The signing ceremony took place today at the Ministry of Energy.
The document was signed by the General Director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant" Sergei Bobovich, the General Director of the Paks II CJSC Gergei Yakli, the Deputy General Director for Technical Issues of the MBM Paks AES CJSC Pal Tot.
The roadmap was signed as a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding concluded in April 2023 between the Ministry of Energy of Belarus and the Paks II nuclear power plant.
As First Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer of Belenergo State Production Association Yury Shmakov noted, today’s meeting is a key point in further establishing mutually beneficial cooperation between the parties. Belarusian and Hungarian specialists will share best practices both in equipment operation and personnel training. “Some work has already been done, and we understand how we will move forward to show that the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is very important for the whole world,” he said.
In turn, Gergei Yakli emphasized that Paks II, as a nuclear power plant under construction, is interested in attracting Belarusian builders to work on the site. The relevant possibilities are currently being explored. “The construction experience of Belarus is of great importance and high value for us; we are most interested in studying it,” he stated. “In addition, our main task is to ensure nuclear safety; in this regard, it is important that we exchange accumulated knowledge and experience.”
Sergei Bobovich also positively assessed the potential of the partnership with Hungarian side. He emphasized that thanks to the decisions made by the leaders of Belarus and Russia, a modern nuclear power plant was built in the republic, which made it possible to significantly transform the country’s economy.
