Acquaintance with the city and its sights began from Bolshaya Troitskaya Street (formerly Zhidovskaya), where the Great Choral Synagogue is located - one of the oldest synagogues in Europe. In wartime, the most beautiful building of the synagogue turned out to be in the very center of the Jewish ghetto. It contained prisoners before being sent to concentration camps.
The tour continued in the historical center of the city: the Old and New Castles, the Church of Francis Xavier.
Employees of Belarusian NPP visited the largest Orthodox church in the city - the Holy Intercession Cathedral, which houses the miraculous icon of the Kazan Mother of God.
The guests from Ostrovets also visited the only Lutheran church in Belarus - the church of St. John. The temple houses the oldest anchor clock in Europe. In the walls of the church, the participants of the excursion heard one of the best organs of Belarus.
A special place in the trip was occupied by an excursion to the pearl of architecture of the 12th century located on the banks of the Neman, the oldest temple in Belarus - the Kolozha (St. Borisoglebskaya) church.
A wonderful trip left unforgettable memories of the most beautiful corner of our native Belarus.
