“Who didn't want to buy cheaper electricity from Belarus? Lithuania refused this. The issue of BelNPP has acquired in Lithuania an absolutely unacceptable interpretation for us. For some reason, the plant is perceived as a threat to the national security of Lithuania.
This is despite the fact that Belarus works in accordance with all international obligations, cooperates with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and ENSREG. We receive positive reports from there, they declare a high degree of cooperation with Belarus and compliance with all regulatory standards,” said Roman Golovchenko.
According to him, if foreign experts want to carry out monitoring on a bilateral basis, Belarus will respond to such a request. “We will always respond, unlike our Lithuanian colleagues, who prefer not to respond to our requests,” the Prime Minister added.
