Security issues of Belarusian NPP have become the subject of constant speculation for certain political forces in Lithuania, an opportunity to “earn points” to please their own interests. For this, the image of Belarus as a source of threat to nuclear security in Europe is being formed.
Most of the claims of Lithuanian side, including the theses of the resolution, are based on conjectures, have no substantiated arguments, and in some cases contain false information. In particular, the document refers to the loading of nuclear fuel into the reactor core of the first power unit of BelNPP without the appropriate permission of the regulatory body, some illegal work and irresponsible development of nuclear energy, which is not true.
We hope that the international community is capable of objectively assessing the situation and will not take into account such, clearly politicized, not confirmed by facts, assessments of Lithuanian side.
The construction of Belarusian nuclear power plant is carried out in accordance with all the necessary safety requirements. This has been repeatedly confirmed by IAEA missions, assessments of other authoritative international organizations with which Belarus cooperates on an ongoing basis.
