“According to the schedule provided by the general contractor, such readiness will be provided in July,” Mikhail Mikhadyuk noted.
Now we are preparing for a physical launch. As the deputy minister emphasized, all work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of regulatory documents, there is no rush.
"The safety of the nuclear power plant is our top priority. Until we make sure that we are technologically ready (staff, all buildings, structures, physical protection of the facility are ready), we will not go to this stage," Mikhail Mikhadyuk said.
On May 6, the Ministry of Energy of Belarus announced the delivery of nuclear fuel to the NPP site. The batch for the initial loading into the reactor of the first power unit of BelNPP was manufactured at Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrate Plant (part of the fuel company Rosatom TVEL).
Belarusian NPP with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built under Russian project near Ostrovets (Grodno region). The general contractor is the engineering division of the state corporation Rosatom (ASE). The commissioning of the first power unit is scheduled for 2020, the second - in 2021.
