Belarusian NPP generated 50 billion kWh of electricity

Written by Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus

Since the first power unit was connected to the unified energy system (November 3, 2020), Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant has generated a total of 50 billion kWh of electricity. This has replaced 13.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

Each of the power units produces about 28 million kWh of electricity per day. The share of nuclear generation in the total volume of electricity production in Belarus is 40%.

The construction and commissioning of Belarusian NPP has become an important milestone in the development of the energy system:

- the country is fully self-sufficient in its own electricity and has refused to import it;

- large-scale electrification and the transition of populated areas to electric heating improve the living comfort of millions of people;

- the number of electric vehicles is growing in Belarusian cities;

- due to the ongoing modernization of electrical networks, the reliability of power supply is ensured.
